It seems like KTM had many plans to execute in India in the first quarter of the year. KTM already launched new RC 200 & RC 390 with some addition and changed livery in India. They are also going to launch new Duke 390 up to last February, but there is a shocking news too. That’s about Duke 250 & RC 250.

KTM will not launch Duke 250 and RC 250 in India.

Yes, you heard right. They haven’t any plan to launch Duke 250 and its full fairing sibling RC 250 in India, even though these bikes are manufacturing in Bajaj Chakan plant.

Now, the question arises ‘Why’?

Now, this bike has market presence in Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. there is no official clarification on this issue but production cost could be the reason behind all this. Duke 250 and RC 250 is a bit higher in terms of production cost than Duke 200 and RC 200. Because these bikes share the same platform as of Duke 390 and RC 390.

Well, it will depend on market and KTM’s higher authority that Indian will ride these or not.

Duke 250 & RC 250 Technical Specification

KTM Duke 250 and RC 250 both shares same 249cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine. Engine on these bikes can produce max. power of 31 bhp@9500 rpm and max. torque of 24 Nm@8000 rpm. For better power transmission and ride-ability this engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Unlike Duke 200 and RC 200, these are ABS and slipper clutch equipped.

If KTM have to launch this bike in India, then they have to price it between 200 and 390 series. But this will low the margin for KTM, because these bikes cost much more than Duke 200 & RC 200. Now this time, KTM RC 200 cost 1.71 Lakh(ex-showroom, Delhi) and RC 390 cost 2.21 Lakh(Ex-showroom). So, we can see there is very tight pricing strategy KTM owned already and they have to compete in the market with other manufacturers too.
